Frank Mann is a recurring character in the NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation. He is an accountant at Tilton & Radomski Accounting. He, despite having the same occupation, is very different from his tall, optimistic, pun-loving accounting counterpart, Barney Varmn. He is portrayed as being grumpy and cynical.

He takes over the position of in-house accounting for the firm once Ben Wyatt quits. Once Ben returns to Tilton & Randomski, Frank is very skeptical of Ben's infamous accounting skills. Frank does not appreciate Ben's accounting puns as much as Barney, nor is he as excited by Ben's returning to the firm or by the game The Cones of Dunshire

Although he appears to be fairly new to the firm, he is often seen walking around with Barney, the boss, and seems to be a very influential employee in the firm.

Storyline[]

Season 6[]

He first appears in the episode "The Cones of Dunshire", standing next to Barney  with a sour look on his face as Ben enters, having once again accepted a position at Tilton & Randomski. Once Barney leaves, Frank hangs back and introduces himslef to Ben while adressing that he had heard a lot about him and stating ominously that he's interested to see if Ben "lives up to the hype."

He is later shown sitting in a confrence room with Ben and Barney, trying to solve a particularly difficult accounting problem. Ben proposes a solution, which Frank responds to by saying mockingly, "Great idea . . . that we had a month ago." Ben then comes up with another idea that Frank begrudgingly admits will work.

In the episode "Ms. Ludgate-Dwyer Goes to Washington," Frank appears again, walking alongside Barney when Ben enters the firm to try and persuade Barney to allow April Ludgate to apply for a consulting job. Despite walking in to the room stone-faced and his previous seemingly dislike of Ben, he can be seen beginning to chuckle after Ben makes the accounting pun, "it is actuarilly very good to see you guys" before the camera pans away.

Trivia[]

  • Some people believe that he is related to the unseen accountant "Ted"  that Barney calls out to whenever Ben appears at the firm or makes a pun.
